Ingredients in Fall Sangria Recipes

Fall sangria puts a seasonal twist on the traditional sangria recipe, which originated in Spain and Portugal.

Like in traditional Spanish sangria, wine is the base for fall sangria recipes.

Though traditional Spanish sangria recipes call for Garnacha, Tempranillo, or a Rioja red blend, you can get creative with your substitutions in fall sangria. Some fall sangria recipes may use mulled or spiced wine, a crisp white wine, and/or bubbly sparkling wine.

Other typical ingredients in a traditional Spanish sangria include brandy, orange juice, a sweetener such as sugar, fresh apples and oranges, cinnamon sticks, and sometimes soda water.

For these autumnal sangria recipes, apple cider, caramel vodka, pumpkin butter, and seasonal fruits may be used to replace more traditional ingredients.
