James Beard award-winning chef Timothy Hollingsworth will share his stories and recipes during a Macy’s Culinary Council cooking demonstration at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Home Department on the third floor of Macy’s at Somerset in Troy, Michigan. FYI: This event is FREE!

You’ll learn special techniques and the chef’s best-kept culinary secrets as he prepares his delicious dishes right before your eyes. Plus, there will be plenty of foods and drinks to taste!

Chef Hollingsworth is known for his sophisticated rustic cooking and vibrant, seasonal flavors at his Los Angeles restaurant, Otium. So, I’m excited to see which of his recipes he’ll share with us. If it’s his Santa Maria tri-tip tartines, I’ll be the first in line for a taste. 😉

Having worked 13 years in Napa Valley, including as chef de cuisine under Thomas Keller at French Laundry, Hollingsworth is trained in French cuisine. In 2009, he represented the United States in the global French cooking competition Bocuse d’Or World Cuisine Contest, placing sixth out of 24 top chefs from around the world. I wonder if he’ll share stories from the competition or working alongside chefs like Keller and Gordon Ramsay.
